Abstraction

In February 2022 there was deflation of 0.02 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.24. Of the 90 CPI cities, 53 cities experienced deflation and 37 cities experienced inflation. The highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 2.08 percent with an CPI of 109.20 and the lowest occurred in Palembang, Palangkaraya, and Tarakan at 0.01 percent each with an CPI of 107.54; 108,50; and 108.41. While the highest inflation occurred in Kupang at 0.65 percent with an CPI of 107.17 and the lowest occurred in Tanjung Selor at 0.01 percent with an CPI of 106.29.
Deflation occurs due to a decrease in prices indicated by the decline of several expenditure group indices, namely: food, beverage, and tobacco groups by 0.84 percent and information, communication, and financial services groups by 0.04 percent. While the spending group that experienced an increase in the index, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.09 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.25 percent; equipment group, equipment and routine maintenance of households by 0.45 percent; health group by 0.33 percent; transportation group by 0.07 percent; recreation, sports, and cultural groups by 0.34 percent; education group by 0.07 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.53 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.60 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January–February) 2022 is 0.54 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2022 to February 2021) is 2.06 percent.
The core component in February 2022 experienced inflation of 0.31 percent. The inflation rate of the core components of the calendar year (January–February) 2022 is 0.72 percent and the inflation rate of the core component is year-on-year (February 2022 to February 2021) is 2.03 percent.
